Ok, so here's the deal: I have never updated any minecraft server's from one version to another nor have I Ever updated the cloud software that they use. (Bungee or LilyPad). What are the step's to updating Minecraft server's AND LilyPad. I logged onto a popular MC Server that I haven't been on for a while and noticed a lot of change's. I want to know How to properly update so that I can expect everything once i am doing it. I also noticed that a lot of server's are 1.7 AND 1.8 compatible. I run the same server version's as they do and cannot connect with a 1.8 client. When using a 1.8 Client I get an error next to the ping stating that my server is version 1.7.6!? How do I fix this?

Just replace the jars for the minecraft server, or the files for LilyPad and restart your servers. As Bukkit and Spigot are having their little issues right now, the best way to find the newest versions are to look in peoples signatures around the forums over there.

Well, obviously you don't run the same versions as them... Spigot supports this feature I believe in the last build they came out with, and with the patches if you want the most up to date version. Check the spigot wiki and in their news to get more information about updating ect... LilyPad will also support this.

Why the picture? The process for updating LilyPad is downloading the latest versions from http://ci.lilypadmc.org , stopping your server than starting it back up.

The process for updating Spigot is a question for the forums over there, not here. Though here is a pretty detailed wiki page of it, http://www.spigotmc.org/wiki/spigot-patcher/ /

Ok, The picture just showed the Version that the 1.7 and 1.8 compatible server is using. I will have my Essentials Dev set up the patched build so that I don't screw anything up ;) That is the only thing that i am afraid of. Thanks The_Zip
